Abstract
The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data for the effective management of industrial accident insurance payment, the prevention of industrial accident, and the improvement of health of injured workers by analyzing the factors of sick leave benefits, which had a highest rate of increase among industrial accident insurance payment.
Data was collected from January 1, 1990 to December 31, 1990 from industrial accident insurance payment records in the E office of local labor departments. Injured workers who received sick leave benefits as a result of industrial accidents were 2159.
For the data analysis, it was used SAS applying x2-test, t-test, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results were as follows.

1. In the personal characteristics, the most proportion of respondents were male(92.2%) and 20-39 years old one were 53.4%. 75.9% of workers earned monthly 300,000-900,000 won. 2. As for the types of job, they were occupied in construction industry(48.7%) or manufacturing
industry(32.5%), and 75.8% of workers had worked for less than 1 year. As for the nature of injuries, 31.8% of injured workers had complex injupj and 23.3% had bone
fracture. The most frequently affected part of body were hand and arm. They were hospitalized for less than 12 months, and 57.5% of injured workers used general hospital.
4. According to the personal characteristics, the sick leave benefits were higher in men, 4049 years old workers, those who earned over 900,000 won. According to the nature of injury, the sick leave benefits were higher in the diagnoses of multiple injury, 12 or over duration of employment, and the injured workers who used the general hospital. And the difference were statistically significant.
5. The mean of sick leave benefits for 2,159 workers was 1,333,000 won. It was compared the top 25% of the group with the bottom 25% of the group in terms of amount of compensation which the injured workers were paid. The results indicated that all the variables were statistically significant. The characteristics of the top 25% group were as follows. According to the general characteristics, most of them were men, aged 40 and above, and earned 600,000 won and over per month. According to the characteristics of job, higher compensation was paid to construction business, construction workers and administration, and those who served less than 12 months or more than 36 months. According to the characteristics of accidents, more compensation was given to those who suffered from fracture, back and waist injuries, and who were hospitalized for more than 12 months in a general hospital.
6. In conclusion, to identify factors influencing the sick leave benefits due to industrial accidents, it was used stepwise multiple regression analysis. As result of this analysis, the factors had the order. Period of hospitalization, construction of business, period of service, combination of types of injury, and parts of injured (waist and back). It was possible to explain 57.1%.
